i need money! and i might need a new bible soon. (something light, small, and readable)
had been thinking back about the cell grp last sat and reflecting on what i learnt. (it takes me awhile to think thru a question/answer to arrive at a satisfying explanation)
IF you know you are going to be tempted by(enter your desires) and it might HARM you when you do something, are you still willing to do that something?
e.g. you know you would forget about doing HOMEWORK if you turn on your computer, would you still turn it on?
YES: you succumb to temptations! *get punished by teacher for not handing in* NO: you're good at resisting temptations! *pat on the back for you & A+ for assignment~*
that's an easy scenario. how about this:
you know SMOKING is bad for health, but because your FRIENDS want you to try itOR you think it would make you look COOLER and FIT IN in the group...
would you do it? (any other things you know is VERY HARMFUL and still might do it)
well, i did. WHEN i was young and ignorant (and a teenybit rebellious). that period wanted to just faster die, and thought that smoking is a good way of torturing myself... blah blah all that shit... and i did spoil my health since i vomited almost everytime i ate.
BUT now (of cus i quitted liao), if i see people smoking, i'll just think that it's a waste of money and life. and AIR POLLUTION. and i (advice!) better not see anyone close to me picking it up! if you do, i'll chop off your fingers and steal your 'hoon ki' money to fund my clothes expenditure. mwahaha! i can't do anything about those already smoking but i'll pray for you to quit soon. =)
*back to topic* though i gave in to that temptation for a long while (and others like gambling and the list goes on), i had enough control over myself to give it up when i had not SINK deeper in. and with those experiences, i had a close-up look of what these temptations can do to us AND help prevent others from doing them.
it's a '我不入地狱，谁入地狱' kinda theory. if no one tried it and learnt precious experience from it, no one would know what harm it can do and no one can prevent it right! so be happy there are people (LIKE ME) willing to sacrifice for the good of all mankind *attempt to make myself look good although i'm a self-proclaimed humans-hater*
thus, what i am trying to say is: there are people out there who cannot resist a temptation TILL they experience the harmful effects of giving in to it.
of cus, please dont be stupid to go and kill somebody because you were tempted to. There are these lines that cannot be crossed kays!
(warning to some: MY christian view) many people changed for the better, though many for the worst too. but i feel that everyone deserves a second chance even after they did wrong/sinned. thru reading MARK2 for 2 days now (i did my HW for soymilk ok~) i realized that God loves us so much He is willing to forgive us, and Jesus came down to save all the sinners if you repent and believe.
